School bus types, briefly

Type A is a body on a cutaway van chassis — narrow inside, easiest to drive. Type B keeps full width on a shorter body. Type C is the classic conventional with a hood, which costs you seven or eight feet of living space. Type D is flat-nosed, giving the most floor for a given overall length.

Motorcoaches are a different animal again: taller ceilings, bays underneath, air suspension and highway drivetrains — more comfortable to live in and to drive long distances, and considerably more expensive to buy and repair.
